Can Sexual Harassment Cases Dismiss Donald Trump?

A video reported by NBC on July 17 showed US President Donald Trump and Jerrey Epstein were joking around at Mar a Lago, Trump's vacation home on Palm Beach at a private party that only the president and Epstein visited. The party was enlivened by dozens of female cheerleaders brought in by Epstein.

The Washington Post wrote that during the party, Trump did not stop touching and caressing young women and not infrequently the president held the women tightly.

Epstein is an extraordinary person for Trump that day. Thanks to Epstein, his vacation home swimming pool could be a playground for cheerleaders - a sight that Trump thinks is amazing. Therefore, he did not hesitate to admit he had an important similarity with Epstein: both (like and crazy) women.

For Epstein, finding young women to enliven the party is an easy matter. This man is known as financial planner Leslie Wexner, retailer The Limited or L Brands who oversees several labels such as Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works, and Abercrombie and Fitch.

The report entitled "How Jeffrey Epstein Used the Billionaire Behind Victoria's Secret for Wealth and Women" published by the New York Times on July 25 said the introduction of Wexner and Epstein occurred in the late 1980s when Wexner intended to develop the property and art business. He wants his new business to be based in Ohio, the birthplace of Epstein.

Epstein also helped meet Wexner's various needs when building a new business. Over time, their relationship became increasingly tight. Wexner gave Epstein the authority to recruit employees, sign checks, borrow money, and sell property on behalf of Wexner.

This power made the high-ranking company officials L Brands surprised. In their eyes, Epstein is not a special man with a myriad of achievements. To this day only Wexner knew the exact reason why he believed in Epstein. Unfortunately, he did not want to tell the reason to the media. The retail fan refused the interview request submitted by the New York Times.

The big authority finally made Epstein dare to apply as a clothing model selector in Victoria's Secret but the proposal was immediately rejected by the company's leadership.

Being rejected as a selector of the model did not keep Epstein away from women. Some time after the rejection, word spread that Epstein had sexually abused 14-year-old women. He was proven to pay underage women to have sex and ask the child to find peers who would be invited to sleep together.

Epstein's network ability makes him unpunished. The New York Times even called the popularity or positive sentiment towards Epstein even increased because he often held events that invited intellectuals such as Stephen Hawking and built various health foundations.

Currently the US police are examining witnesses regarding Epstein's cases. No one knows for sure whether Epstein is still immune from the law or not.

In January, Vox reported that in the US there were 263 celebrities, politicians, company leaders who were proven to have committed acts of sexual violence since April 2017. The updated information contained information on names, positions, and the types of harassment carried out by powerful people and moneyed.

Trump is listed on the list.

According to the New York Magazine summary published on February 26, 2019, Trump has been reported on charges of groping genitals, caressing all parts of his body without permission, rape, forcing sexual intercourse, kissing without permission, saying abuse words, and breaking into women's changing rooms in beauty contest event.

The latest report came from E. Jean Carroll, a journalist and book writer who accused Donald Trump of sexually abusing him in 1996.

The Hill notes that Trump once asked Carroll for advice about a suitable gift given to a woman. They both then went to the shopping center. Arriving there, Carroll suggested Trump buy a bag or hat. But the president instead directed the steps to the dressing room selling the underwear.

"Trump pushed him against the wall, kissed Carroll, and opened the girl's clothes," wrote The Hill.

Carroll was silent for decades because he felt the action did not include sexual harassment. In addition, he was not confident enough to report this case. But after the #MeToo movement was heavily discussed over the past few years, Carroll changed his mind.

To this day Trump has never received a call from the court and continues to deny the act by saying, "Carroll is not my type [woman]".

These cases made some members of the democratic party get the wind to overthrow Trump. According to the Vox report published on July 26, 100 of the 236 members of the democratic party considered the party to take action to initiate an impeachment mechanism against Trump.

One of the people who campaigned for the idea was Jackie Speier, a congressman who was also the leader of the #MeToo movement. As reported by Vox, Speier aggressively demanded that Congress investigate cases of sexual abuse involving Trump.

Jamie Raskin, who is also a member of the party, said that now his party is conducting an investigation in order to impeach.

Democrats need months to ensure that impeachment is successful. They must obey the judicial committee's opinion about whether or not the process is carried out. After that, the party must seek the approval of all its members, and then all members of the Senate.

Impeachment related to sexual harassment is not new in the US. In 1998, President Bill Clinton threatened to be impeached on the basis of perjury and prevented the investigation into him. The Democratic Party politician vowed not to harass Paula Jones and tried to influence Monica Lewinsky's testimony. Jones and Lewinsky were victims of sexual harassment by Clinton, each when he was governor of Arkansas and US president. Clinton escaped impeachment because the Senate failed to win a majority vote to support the process.

The failure to reach a majority vote made many parties pessimistic if Trump could be impeached on the same charges. The failure, Vox wrote, "could tarnish the image of the Democratic Party".
